Does the internet really need another calligraphy blog?
Probably not. But I’m starting one anyway.
I’ve always loved handwriting, even when it didn’t look great. When I discovered modern calligraphy, it helped me slow down, focus, and enjoy something simple again. This blog is part practice, part journal, and part resource for anyone curious about getting started.
If you're a beginner, here’s how to start with as little pressure as possible.
What You Actually Need
- A smooth notebook or printer paper (HP Premium 32 works well)
- A basic brush pen like the Tombow Fudenosuke
- A few quiet minutes
- Patience
You can even start with a regular pen and try faux calligraphy: write in cursive, then thicken your downstrokes.
First Steps
- Start with simple strokes and practice letters
- Look at other calligraphers for structure, not comparison
- Set a small, regular practice goal (like 5 minutes a day)
Why This Blog
This space is a way for me to stay consistent, share helpful tools, and maybe connect with others learning too. I’ll be posting resources, tips, and notes as I go. Eventually, I might add printables or translate some of it into other languages.
Thanks for stopping by.
